Located in San Diego’s University Heights neighborhood, Madison on Park serves upscale Mediterranean and Southern California inspired cuisine in a modern yet warm atmosphere. Madison features a full bar, an upscale menu, offered in the bar and main dining room – which features high-vaulted ceilings and cedar-laden walls, creating an indoor-outdoor aesthetic.
The concept’s team includes owner and managing partner Jeffrey Fink, who also runs M-Theory Music and is managing partner of FLUXX nightclub, and partner-GM Matthew Sieve formerly of Isabel Cruz Hospitality.
Madison’s menu is designed by Mario Cassineri, partner and executive chef of BiCE Ristorante, who is also a part of the new Buona Forchetta project in Liberty Station, while chef Tony “G” Gutierrez (BiCE Ristorante, La Strada and Opera Café) runs the kitchen day-to-day. Staying true to Chef Mario’s Northern Italian roots, the menu features several Mediterranean influenced dishes with classic Southern California ingredients.
The full bar is helmed by Danny Kuehner (formerly of Blue Point and Single Fin) and features local beer, a curated wine list, and cocktails designed by Dan Dufek.
Industrial design firm ARCHISECTS are credited with transforming the 3,000-square-foot space into a seriously dramatic indoor-outdoor dining room, with a sky-high vaulted ceiling made of wood joinery and cedar walls in colorful geometric patterns and shapes. A guitar string-inspired rope installation stretches across the dining room’s archway and is used to partition booths in the bar; Fink’s M-Theory Music provides the restaurant’s soundtrack via a top-shelf sound system.
